“Best Hip Hop Artist’ VH1 Nomination!

vh1-sn-awards

yo,

If you want something bad enough you have to believe in it. Just as a wall is made out of individual bricks, realistically all dreams are made out of individual efforts. At times it can seem like a daunting task… but you just have to focus on placing one brick down at a time.

Today I’m ecstatic to announce that I’ve officially been nominated by VH1, for the “Best Hip-Hop Artist” category, at the VH1 Sound Nation Awards later this month.

It’s so crazy to reminisce on how everything’s turned out. I started rapping in Detroit on a three-dollar microphone, got placed on 2Pac album, which led to the feature in Rolling Stone magazine, which in turn enabled me to collaborate with Eminem & Dr. Dre’s artists, to eventually self releasing music videos that would get picked up by MTV & VH1.

Which brings me to today… Believe in yourself even when no one else does. Hard work does pay and good things do come. Win, lose, or draw… It’s been one hell of a ride.

Hit me up on twitter @TheAsoka or Instagram @TheAsoka and let’s chop it up. Let me know which songs you like the most and what videos you think should come next.

Hope you’re enjoying the music as much as I am!

‘Man Of Steel’ Gets The Rap Soundtrack It Was Missing’ – MTV.com

AsokaSuperman_front_1600

Shout out to MTV for the support! They wrote a beautiful article on my Man of Steel EP!

No matter whether you love ‘Man of Steel,’ or hate it, there’s one thing we can all agree on: it needed a rap recap over the end credits. Luckily, hip-hop artist Asoka provided the soundtrack we all wanted (instead of that stupid Hans Zimmer score we’ve been listening to non-stop oh god it’s so good), complete with raps from both Superman and Zod’s perspective. Ever wanted to hear Zod rap about Atari? Now you can. Hooray!

The Man of Steel EP is a free release consisting of 7 new songs written and recorded by RawKey & myself. The songs are written from Clark Kent & Zod’s perspective and can be downloaded for free right here on ReliveHipHop.com!

The Man of Steel EP!

AsokaSuperman_front_1600

I’ve always been inspired by the Superman character. He stands for truth & justice but at the very core of his being he feels lonely, conflicted and lost. Zack Snyder (the director of Man of Steel) recently said, “He’s the most powerful but also the most vulnerable superhero you could imagine.”

His existence is bittersweet, almost poetic. As a child I was fascinated by the character, and as I grew older, I started relating to the human side of Clark Kent.

Inspired by the release of the new movie… I got together with RawKey, my favorite producer in hip-hop, and decided to pay homage and create our own soundtrack to accompany the feature film.

I can honestly say this is my proudest body of work. I’m honored to share this music with you!
