It’s so important to surround yourself with people that uplift you. This is Gurv & Harv Sihra - They’re work horses, grinding and living their dream everyday. As WWE superstars they travel upwards of 300 days a year, wrestling night in and night out. We connected a few years ago through a mutual friend and bonded over our love for wrestling, hip-hop, and acting. They always make time to hang out when they’re in town and have been really supportive to me. I walk away feeling inspired every time I talk to these guys. When you’re building your dream - it’s important to have friends like that around. #FindYourTribe. PS Moment Gurv and I saw each other we both pointed at each other’s outfit and said, “of course.” As you can obviously tell - we’re both all about that 2Pac life. My self worth, as an artist, is not defined by the number of records I sell. It comes from the euphoria of being completely free from concern when I’m creating - whether it be rapping, writing, breaking down a script and acting. Though recognition and financial success are welcomed... My greatest blessings are the beautiful souls I’ve encountered, connected and collaborated with. #MakaveliBranded. #NeverShady. Some days I’m up, other days I’m down. Lately I’ve been feeling the LA City Blues... As all artists do. Yesterday, during my sister’s birthday brunch, Richard Lewis (who I grew up watching on Curb) told me I’m witty and to never lose my passion. We had a really nice conversation about acting, comedy, writing and even rapped together. It really lifted my spirits - sometimes the universe tells you exactly what you need to hear. #RichardLewis
Happy and inspired to hang with my guy @rohitsharmacomedian today. #NewBrownAmerica right here. #Repost @rohitsharmacomedian with @get_repost ・・・ I feel inspired. Today was cool, I finally caught up with a guy who I've wanted to meet up with for some time and today was the day we finally connected. It happens "oh we should totally meet, let's do it, hit me up... " then nothing. But we were supposed to link up, a higher power wanted us to meet. I have admired @theasoka from the first time I met him. He is a kind soul, someone you should be lucky to be friends with. A supremely talented Indian rapper, actor and creative. It's easy to be alone or get busy with your daily grind. I recommend taking the time to be kind and link up with those kind of people. You never know who can help inspire you to grow as an individual. Be thankful. Be kind. Eat pizza. #powerinnumbers #americanindian #theasokahustle #bekind Always a night to remember when you’re with @TheTravelHer. Life is beautiful in California - it’s where the creative soul is fed and nourished. Words of encouragement and journeys come together to blossom new art. . : @twothirtyfive
First production meeting (of hopefully many many more to come) with a few of my best friends. This is the #DreamTeam. #FindYourTribe. Butter Chicken & Thums Up with baby bro before he moves. Beginning to realize how precious “everyday moments” are. Simplest things... Like a nice meal together become sparks of light that guide us through our journey. Through the constant challenges of life - you have to recognize all the “little” moments for what they are... #Blessings. Spilling coffee on people as we take our photos. Ain’t no thang...
Happy Diwali to all of you. To all the beautiful souls from every religion, culture, and race. Diwali is the Festival of Lights, for us Hindus. Let’s choose #LOVE over hate and dominate the next year with light, prosperity, and peace! #Om Shooting with these creative and talented people. #LifeIsGood. #TheAsokaHustle. Happy 25th Anniversary, Conan! I have met some of the most wonderful people I’ve known through this show. And those people have impacted my life in such a wonderful way. Use to set my VCR to tape Conan on school nights - Little did I know one day I’d get to be on the show too. Life is fun, and @TeamConan adds a little more to that. #Conan25 PS screenshot from The Conan O’Brien Rap Anthem Video I did years ago

Skylar Grey’s New Record…

The Asoka & Skylar Grey in LA July 2013

Got to chop it up with this lovely lady again at her record release party in Los Angeles. Man, this girls talented. She’s becoming one of my favorite song writers… Check out Skylar’s album “Don’t Look Down” if you haven’t already! She’s responsible for writing some of the biggest hits in recent times.  And just the way she does it is so poetic!

Cheers!

The Asoka & Asher Roth in LA July 2013

You gotta create the kind of music that’ll make you happy.

Had a nice convo with Asher Roth recently. His new mixtape The GreenHouse Effect Vol. 2 just released last month! Asher kills it as usual and… so did Justin Bieber? Biebs raps on a track called “Actin Up” and it’s definitely a stand out track! Wish these two would have put out that “Best of Both Worlds” type of project that was rumored a couple years ago…

‘Man Of Steel’ Gets The Rap Soundtrack It Was Missing’ – MTV.com

Shout out to MTV for the support! They wrote a beautiful article on my Man of Steel EP! No matter whether you love ‘Man of Steel,’ or hate it, there’s one thing we can all agree on: it needed a rap recap over the end credits. Luckily, hip-hop artist Asoka provided the soundtrack we all wanted (instead of […]

Welcome 2 HySpace: Evolution Muzik!

Every once in a while an artist comes along that redefines his genre of music. I believe J0HNS0L0 is an artist of that calibre. Sometimes you stumble upon a diamond in the underground and that’s exactly what happened when I discovered John’s music. Welcome2Hyspace is easily one of the best Hip-Hop albums made in recent […]

The Man of Steel EP!

I’ve always been inspired by the Superman character. He stands for truth & justice but at the very core of his being he feels lonely, conflicted and lost. Zack Snyder (the director of Man of Steel) recently said, “He’s the most powerful but also the most vulnerable superhero you could imagine.” His existence is bittersweet, […]

Through The Eyes Of A Veteran – My Conversation with Hittman!

HIttman and The Asoka

If the West Coast Hip Hop movement were an army, Hittman would be a glorified soldier; a hero amongst his peers. Hittman was the most featured artist on Dr. Dre’s 2001 album! He showcased his skills to the world on 10 songs on the iconic hip-hop album!

His name will forever live on in Hip Hop history. I recently spoke with Hitt on life, music, and the overall ride that the music industry has taken him on…. [Click Here For The Entire Interview]
