Coach’s Wrestling Class – A Short Film

I grew up watching wrestling. The loud promos of “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson were always echoing out of my living room. Three weeks into high school I was labeled “the wrestling kid.” Maybe it was because I talked about it all the time… Or maybe it was because I wore a different wrestling shirt to school everyday, consistently, for three weeks!? We may never know the answer.

If you’re reading this… You probably know how madly and deeply in love, I am with hip-hop. I started writing songs in high school. I would lay awake at night and think about how one day I’d be famous (hey, it can still happen… Right!?) and do a wrestling themed music video. I could see it in my head – I’d invite all my favorite wrestlers to be a part of it.

The universe can be really slick at times. Because a variation of that actually happened (though I’m still working on the famous part – It can still happen RIGHT?!?). And it all began with my dear friend Sonjay Dutt.

Stackin’ Pesos Music Video

Here is the music video for Stackin’ Pesos off The Asoka Hustle album (available now on iTunes). If there’s two things I love, it’s wrestling & hip-hop and I’ve been so lucky to bring those worlds together through my music.

This song was co-produced by my friend Rocky Romero. Rocky is one of the best wrestlers in the world and has held championships all around the world. Gotta give thanks to, the world champion of the world, Christopher Daniels too. He’s been making cameos in all of my music videos over the last year. He’s one of the few guys who can make you laugh as hard, outside of the ring, as he hits his foes in the ring.

The video was directed by Jerry Sommer and co-stars Jenn Hamer & Tara Carbone. Enjoy the video and share it everywhere!

Peace!

Hollywood Girls Music Video

The third single from my album The Asoka Hustle is here! Believe it or not, Hollywood Girls was inspired by Adam Sandler’s song “Listening to the Radio.” After hearing Sandler’s song I began reflecting on some of the amazing experiences I had encountered during my first few years in LA… And the rest is history.

The video went through a few conceptions before being finalized with the girl gang concept. This is a video that almost didn’t happen. Our director fell sick, and we put everything on hold – including casting. Then at the eleventh hour our amazing director Carlos, with a 104* temperature, decided the show must go on. I called up some good friends (Natalie, Inessa, Amanda, and Rylee) and we had our cast ready to go.

This is one of my favorite videos. It feels so cinematic. And I owe all that to the amazing people that made it possible: Carlos Haynes, Clark McClanathan, and Tom Wood.  So enjoy the video, share on you twitter/insta/facebook/chain emails/ all that, haha… And subscribe on YouTube for the latest.

Talk soon,
A

Ps Christopher Daniels killing it with the post credits scene at the end!
