I’m proud to introduce to you this amazing artist out of LA. Asoka had a dream from the get-go. Utilizing the Law of Attraction he has made his way from a chubby high school kid that loved to rap to being celebrated as a powerful recording artist having videos in rotation internationally on VH1 and MTV. He has had the fortunate ability to go around the world to meet artists he has idolized, learning many lessons along the way and has been grateful daily for it.

I love his sound truly. He has a great voice, great lyrics and the beats he makes with his Swedish producer, RawKey, are pretty sweet too. But what I love most about Asoka is his ethic and common sense. Early on he learned that educating himself on how to fine-tune his craft, how to approach the media and how to polish everything about the business world has paid off. Major Music Without a Major Label (Asoka & RocketHub)!

When I started out the dream was to get a record deal. I use to dream about working with specific artists and how I would spend days with them perfecting my craft and living life amongst the blessed.

At 17 years old I set forth on a journey that would take me around the world! As I grew older, my art matured. I refined my skills and defined my work ethic. And it didn’t go unnoticed…

Before I knew it things started falling into place.  I was called upon to contribute on an official Makaveli-Branded release: 2Pac – The Underground Railroad.

Confident, young, and naive… I walked into Blender magazine’s office. I asked the receptionist to meet with the Editor of the magazine. She replied, “He’s busy.”  I replied, “I’ll wait.”

Hours later I got the chance to state my case. I told him about my music, my accolades and what I was hoping to accomplish. Impressed… he stated they’ll do an article on me called “Almost Famous.” And lo and behold, the following month, there was a full page article in Blender magazine about me!

That incident taught me that you can’t wait for things to happen. You have to make them happen yourself!

Through the years I’ve actualized parts of my dream. I’ve worked with and learned from the artists I use to idolize. I have music videos that are in rotation on MTV & VH1 internationally. Videos that I shot, directed, and edited myself!

Now I’m taking on my biggest challenge yet… to create and globally release my first ever full budget album! I’ve teamed up with RocketHub and we’re going to do this together! We’re going to create major music without a major label!

Ten Years Later… MTV!

I’ve thought about this moment for a long time. I use to contemplate how I would celebrate it… Maybe with the release of an album… a mixtape… just… something that would be special!

You see I’ve thought about December 2012 for years… Because it marks the ten year anniversary of the very first song I ever recorded. Ten years ago a chubby kid from Detroit, who use to rap at the high school lunch tables, decided to record his first song.

His passion took him on a journey around the world. It introduced him to some of his idols… He EVEN befriend a few of them. Hell, it enabled him to date a couple models as well! Life…

Just a few of the things that “Music” has brought me.

So as I sit here tonight, I quietly chuckle to myself. For I spent so many nights thinking about what I could do on this day to celebrate; When God had a greater plan all along.

Tonight, for the very first time, a music video of mine will be premiered on MTV!

… And to me that’s poetic.

The future is ours. Constantly making progress within the industry while being kept outside at bay. VH1 just premiered the Official Music Video for my track HATE. The single is produced by RAWKEY & directed by renowned fashion photographer Amit Sharma. We went all the way to India to shoot this!
